The Green Cane Project is a model of agricultural production that was developed aiming at harmonious co-existence of economic activity and nature, preserving and encouraging biodiversity, tapping into its richness to produce food for a growing world. Native is the consequence - not the goal - of the largest existing organic agricultural project in the world that began in 1986 with the main purpose of developing a self-sustainable production system for sugar cane, transforming the whole production process into organic agriculture.   

Living Native is a pure way of life:

A Native product means being organic, healthy and tasty.  Being organic means there are no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, additives and preservatives.  To achieve this level of quality and taste, we blended the best organic ingredients with the best production techniques, until our most demanding consumers approved our products – people like you.

   Native Sugar

Each Native sugar crystal is the purest and healthiest essence of the raw sugar cane nectar.  This sugar cane has been cultivated with organic inputs and natural biological controls.  It has also been green harvested, a process which does not burn the plant.  The organic sugar cane farming retains its original qualities, protects the soil and the environment and results in a great product.

Native Sugar is found in two versions:

-  1 or 5 kg packages of White Sugar to be used instead of refined or crystal sugar for cooking;

-  1 or 5 kg packages of Golden Sugar (demerara) for those special touches in syrups, cakes, desserts and hot drinks.

You can also take home Native Organic White Sugar in packages of 50 - 6g green packets.

Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the number and variety of organisms found in a specified geographic region.  In the organic farms of São Francisco Sugar Mills, biodiversity is 6 times higher than in conventional farms in the same area.  The “eco-farms” production coexists with undisturbed Native forests and abundant animal life.  The same grounds are the scenario for the organic sugar cane farm and home for more than 247 animal species and of which 189 species are considered rare.  Among them there are jaguars, manned wolves, giant anteaters, capuchin monkeys and barn owls.
